Based in Walkerston on the Peak Downs Hwy. it is ideally situated to take advantage of both Mackay and the Mines being only 15 minutes from Mackay and also being that much closer to the Bowen Basin Mining Sector.

Electrical

Our electrical team provides general electrical services in all of the market areas we service - mining, heavy industrial, light industrial, commercial and domestic.  We perform all of the normal activities you would expect from an Electrical Company - Test & tag, switch board installation and upgrades, electrical repairs, power upgrades, house & building wiring and much, much more.

SOS Electrical & Communications also provides a specialist light for the mining sector - one which we developed ourselves over 11 years ago, which has been modified over time to keep our technology updated.  This light is mainly used on draglines, giving a far superior life of 3 years on average (compared to 6-12 months for standard lights) which means huge cost savings for the mining sector.  Not only do these retrofit lights save money for the mine, but can be refurbished and restored to near new - for around half the cost of a new light.

Communications

We provide radio communications services to the mining, industrial and farming communities.  Our highly qualified Radio Communications staff have the expertise to provide services from installing a 2-way radio into a ute to erecting a 30m tower on a mine site.  We install, service and maintain radio communication systems on a number of mine sites in the Bowen Basin.  This includes emergency radio communications as well as normal radio communications. 

We sell and service a range of two-way radios and can service in-house - we only have to send the most complex repairs away - most of the radio systems are repaired and serviced in our own technical services department here in Mackay.

Our expert Radio Communications staff can also run comprehensive radio courses on your own radio communications systems for your staff so that they have a better understanding of how to operate and maintain your radio system.

Data & Telecommunications

Copper, Fibre Optics or Wireless - our qualified data staff can install and manage your data and telecommunications system for you.  We can install Cat5, Cat 6 or Fibre Optic Data cabling for your business.  We have the equipment required for splicing Fibre Optic Cable here in Mackay and we have the qualified staff to operate the Yamasaki 80 Fibre Optic splicer.

Our staff are also expert in Telephone Systems - we can sell, install, programme and maintain telephone systems - from SOHO to Enterprise PABX with 1,000 + telephone extensions.
